painted exhaust? to do or not to do?

can i use high-temp paint to paint my exhaust?

i really want my fmf sst to be red. would high temp engine paint work? i want a glossy red exhaust.

don't ask why... i just want to do it.

well i got great result with flat black hi temp paint so red should be the same,but dont forget its the prep before paint thats do the job!!

i would get a scotch pad or scuff pad whatever you call it and go over it real real good and clean it with paint thinner and spray it in light coats should work well for ya!!

cool. it is a chromed pipe.... will this affect the paint in any way?

you are wanting to cover the chrome right jsut make sure you scuff it really really good to where its dull and then put your paint on you will be able to tell if you scuff one part good and look at the pipe beside of the part you scuffed do you know what i am calling a scuff pad!!

yes it was a chrome pipe and no it wont affect the pipe,but you need to sand the pipe before applying the paint you need a rough surface for the paint to hold on!!!

idk if its chrome i wouldnt do it the paints not gunna stick very good

I have painted several exhaust with high temp paint with great results. But i have never painted a crome one try sanding or mabey sandblasting it. good luck ! let us know how it turns out.
