I Just Picked Up A Uni Filter For My Tri Z And It Did Not Come Pre Oiled.

Can You Use Any Oil On It? I Have No Toil Oil But Thats It

I'm Leaving In A Couple Days For The Dunes And I Dont Want To Blow
It Up While I'm Down There.

I Bought A Uni Filter And Outerwears Prefilter For It To Be Safe

The Trike Doesn't Have An Air Box Do To The Size Of The Carb Thats
On It.

Is it a foam filter or a gauze filter? If it is foam then the No-Toil oil will work fine. If it is gauze then get a K&N recharge kit and use the oil it comes with. Also If its foam you don't need a pre-filter It will just get all gummed up by the filter oil. Since your not running a air box I hope for your sake its a gauze style as the foam would probably just get caked up with oil and sand.

no, it's a foam filter.

the pre filter is almost a requirement down there the sand is so fine it's scary.

better safe then sorry on that part.

Foam filter oil works well, but if you don't have that, pretty much any oil will do the trick. Foam filter oil is a little stickier and it's properties are perfect for the application. I used to use regular 10W30 or whatever extra motor oil was in the garage. It does run off the filter more easily though.

Yeah, just get a big zip lock bag, pour some oil in, throw in the filter and work it all around. Try to get it as even as possible. Once it's all on there evenly, hang it on a wire over an oil pan for the excess to drip off, and install.

except yuo get fuel vapors in the airfilter, filter oil does not break down, regular oil will be broken down by the vapors and you filter will be MUCH less effective., also when cleaning the filter, do not use gas etc. just get a bucket of hot water with some dawn dish soap in it.

YA ERIC U BETTER get a new filter cuz i will see u on the dunes.....ur ass is going down........ i am running a uni foam filter with some goooey filter foam. i am also runnin some panty hose for the pre filter...ya ghetto i know but one stocking will make 5 prefilters and u can just throw them away..

plus using the big ziplock bags...if your doing long races or really dusty races etc and you have spare filters you can leave your clean oiled spare filter in the ziplock bag and its ready to go if you need it.

YES OBIWAN........... I'M TTRYING TO THINK OF SOMETHING YOU WOULDNT KNOW A GOOD ANSWER FOR,LOL.

THANK YOU ALOT FOR THE HELP

^^^good luck w/that LOL, The man has some mad exp. under his belt.

You do realize that the pre-filter only grabs the big particles out of the air right? If the sand is so fine that you don't trust the foam then it will go right through a pre-filter.

TRUST ME THE PRE FILTER HELPS KEEP OUT THE SAND.

sorry caps again work habit

thats one thing down there that seem to be the truth.

everyone i've ever talked to down there said it will save the engine.

sticky or not the openings on the normal filter are still larger then the prefilter

and and the more the better IMO

ruthless your half right and oldskoool your half right.
if your in the dunes and use a uni 2stage no need for a prefilter, and 1stage should use one. just my experience with them.
and good luck with finding something that phrangle dont know and when you finilly find something in 2 years he would have already learned about it! haha he know his stuff

if you want to use a 'prefilter' with a uni....since I am assuming your running no airbox lid, one of the prefilter companies was selling the material, so you could cut your lid so all that was left was the edges and a little lip, then mount the prefilter to the lip. you now have a breathable prefilter airbox lid.

whoever mentioned using pantyhose... people have been doing that since the 60's

The PB box uses a prefilter lid, so to speak.
When my son raced his 90cvt we ran a outerwears over a uni and it worked real well. We ran one race that it rained all day and he was the only kid to finish, the rest of the kids tore up there quads injesting water.
