oil leaking i think

well it is but it isnt over time i have seen alot of bikes do this but i do not believe if the bike is freshly rebuilt will leak already

yea it's pretty normal, not really acceptable though. I would pull it off and slap another gasket on there, just to solve any leaks. Just be sure to clean both srfaces really well so the gasket stays clean!

Oh sure, you give him the good advice, like clean both surfaces really well so the gasket stays clean....you just tell me to slap some high temp RTV on there. LOL.

I have refined my exhaust flange gasket installation procedure :D

So EZrider, you should clean your surface too :p

Ahhhhh, took a QC hit and rewrote the procedure...you must work for a TS Quality Assurance company. :(

Roger Roger on the surface cleaning, I would've done it, just because I'm persnickety like that. 8-|

I checked the tube of Red RTV, dunno what the heat range is

I still have the packaging, it's easier to hang up and keep in plain sight, otherwise I'll use it. I'll check tomorrow and let ya know. That stuff doesn't like fuel though. A little squeezed out into my reed cage (which was saturated with fuel when I checked it tonight) when I put my new intake flange on, it stayed pretty gooey....or at least it felt like it.

yea fuel can mess with it, maybe that wouldn't work so well, gasket might be better

there is a small bit of oil leaking were the exhaust header meets the cylinder. normal?

If the pipe was put on a little crooked and the bolts tightened up unevenly, even a new gasket will leak.

Push the pipe in firmly, tighten up both bolts the same until they are just over finger tight.

Wiggle the pipe well to make it is seating correctly and nip up the bolts some more.

Continue wiggling and nipping until the pipe no longer moves.

Tighten the bolts evenly to the correct specs, chances it will never leak.
