I just bought a 98 blaster stock with pipes and filter. It still has the oil injection. The bike will not idle and when i do get it cranked it boggs bad, real bad. It smokes a little more than it should, but is supposed to have a new top end. Im thinking two things could be wrong. The oil injection pump is failing and pumping to much oil or the shade tree mechanic might have but the piston in backwards. (arrow away from exhaust). You can shift into first and drive, but at a speed of around 5mph. TOPS. Any help anyone.:-/

First thing I would do is pull that carb down soak it and give it a good cleaning. I'm geuessing since it has oil injection it still probably has the tors hooked up, that is the second thing I would do is bypass that, or get the kit to do away with it completly.

u can look threw the intake port or u can pull the head off to look and see if u are not sure a new head gasket is not that much to make sure. also i would just trash the oil injection. u can get the block off plate and the two gasket threw yamaha for around like 27$ witch is cheaper than most the kit u can buy or make your own. and if pistions in back ward dont run it unless u wanna brake the rings. i also agree with just cause get rid of tors too.

thanks guys. i just ordered the block off kit. Just explain to me what you mean by tors. Ive owned suzuki quadracers, honda 250r's and this must be a yamaha thing. Also if the oil injection fails does it go into a safe mode?

I saw what you are talking about and thought what the hell is on top of the carb. So i need a kit for that too? I got in a hurry and could have saved on shipping.:D

u should be able to get the cable and carb top in a kit then u have to buy a kit that come with a iddler screw and tap-drill bit. what suck is it is a odd ball tap so u have to buy it from them. or find some one on here that has one i hade one but i broke it or i would just give it to u.

its a banshee and blaster thing its the box on top of the carb that goveners the bike

Close but no. The TORS is a Throttle Override System, bascially its suppose to detect if the throttle gets stuck up and then overrides it to idle so you don't go for a not so fun ride. Basically they tend to go bad and then you usually can't get the bike to start or it doesn't run with a sh*t. Also I think there is a problem with the parking brake or some crap like that, I didn't learn about that till I got on the site and don't know much about that. Probably the best thing to do is do a search on the forum and look up how to delete your TORS, mine is just bypassed and it works fine, but if you want to spend the money and extra time you can get ride of all the stuff for it as well. Oil injection is up to you, there is a couple people that still run it and don't have a problem. The biggest problem is that the system is ran with a plastic gear in the motor that has a tendency to fail, and when it does say good by to your topend and you will have to rebuild it. Again you can by pass this system best thing is do a search and you can find a couple walkthroughs on that. Also with that you can buy a kit that will get ride of everything completely. Hope this helps some.

no problem. i will get one. when it comes in i will pm you. and since yours broke if you need one shout at me and i will ship it to you.

thanks Just Cause. That will ease my mind from wondering why the hell they would put something like that on a quad. I will be glad to get this thing running good. Been a long time since ive been on a 2 stroke quad. cant wait......

Yep that are beastly fun to ride, I'm still surprised the amount of go these little bikes have for only being a 200 bike. Hope to some some riding vids here shortly.
