where is the plastic gear im supposed to remove is it inside that metal thingy that the two oil lines go to? And if i take it apart will i loose any needed oil?

yes it is inside of the case and yes u will lose the oil. u have to take the oil pump cover off and take the oil pump out. then u have to take off the clutch cover and the gear is inside of that. when u put the case back u should prolly get another gasket for it and make sure u put the kick start spring in the correct position.

i took the plastic gear and metal things inside the pump off and put the pump back together, but i cant get the 2 screws out to take the pump off, so i have to leave the other gear behind the clutch cover. So i started and drove and it seems 100% better than what it was i think the engine was not getting proper lube with the oil injection so it runs great can i just leave that gear in there for a week or two till i figure out how to get the pump off

yeh i know i put some 38-1or 36-1 i had laying around the next take will be 32-1 is that okay. Man the person who had this never took care of it that makes me mad! They said it needed a top end rebuild i say the fourwheeler needed a owner that cares!Cause the more i mess with it the better it runs its like its slowly coming alive. Man i never seen an air filter this dirty before in my life!

I will, i have to buy gear oil first right? And figure out how to get the 2 phillips screws off without stripping them to take off the oil pump! I might start it to fine tune a little but thats it! till i get the gear off! Does any body have a tip on how to get those 2 screws off and there not striped yet, also when i turn the airscrew counter clockwise arnt i richening the mixture? thanksI:I

The answer to your question is, to richen you tighten (right), to lean out you losen (left). Hope this helps! This only effects your idle circuit (pilot). if your running lean or rich on your mid and top, adjust the needle for mid and main jet for top.

I thought it was the other way.IN=LEANER OUT=RICHER ?

Copied this from yellowdogracing
Most of the time, the air screw is set about 1-1/2 turns out from fully seated - this is a good base line starting point.

At first, adjust the Air Screw in 1/2 turn increments so you can see the difference. Then start being more finite by making 1/4 turn adjustments. You'll eventually get to where you only need to make adjustments in 1/8 turn increments.

Get your ride idling in neutral (warm it up fully first)
Quickly nail the throttle, going from idle to wide open in a smooth manner, but quick manner.

Just stabbing the throttle as fast as you can may cause enough disruption in the flow of the intake that the engine can't keep up - eventually, when the carb's tuned correctly, you should be able to nail it and have the engine react correctly. You'll see how this works as you tune the carb.

What does the engine do?
Does it hesitate and then rev up?
As it comes back down to idle, does it seem to hang at a higher idle for a minute and then settle down to normal idle?

If it does this you're Too Lean on the Air Screw adjusment. You need to richen it up by turning the Air Screw IN 1/2 turn and then repeat the test.

Adjust as necessary, repeating the test until you have a nice response.

why does he have to mess with his kickstart spring?? just take the nut and kicker off and the clutch cover will come off.
