oil deposits on plug

Have you started it like this?
If there is a lot of white smoke and smells very nasty your burning the transmission oil and need to replace the seals
It may be that your just running rich though

yeah at first the smoke was real whispy (is that a word) the smoke later became nice and thick white. Now I got the old carb retired and its got the plastics removed for cleaning and I decided to inspect the plug.
And Stephen I think your referring to my main jet in the carb? It actually looked fine the other day when I went to blast it with carb cleaner... Then I discovered the beat threads on it and went ahead and ordered a new carb.

If I replace all the seals (with help because its my first time) Which gaskets will I need? Im ordering a full seal kit with all of them from ebay and Im new at this.

Im bumping this thread because a friend of mine told me that because the plug was that oily he thought it could be that the rings on the new piston have not seated correctly? So could it be that or the crank seals. I would have had it fixed by now but I just got hit with a 600 dollar garage bill for my crappy car

I too have the thick white smoke upon start up but i know im running pig rich since its new.my question is will this problem show up in any other test?id like to know if mine are bad but cant justify tearing into it over smoke on start up which they all should do.so does anyone know how to diagnose this issue with a little more acracy?

Leak down test , if it leaks it will bubble at the vent hole for the gearbox when soapy water is dabbed on it. But if it'll hold 7psi for a few min ur good, just don't pump it with a compressor use a bike pump.

What mix ratio u running?

the million dollar question is were you just letting it idle or riding it? if you were just letting it idle and it started smoking and the plug got black and oily thats normal for a 2 stroke. now if you were beating it and the plug was black and oily and it is smoking like that it could either be jetted too rich and you'd just need a couple $3 jets or it could be your crank seals (which i doubt)

mine only puffs the smoke thick on startup with it choked also instead of a leak down i used a vacuum gauge on the crank case and it holds vacuum so what are the chances its crank seals

haha on a 4 stroke yeah but not our 2 strokes. what jet you runnin now anyways?

It smoked real heavy when I was riding it. I guess I need to buy that kit for the leakdown test. Add that to the list. I have not ran it since I ordered the new carb but I guess I should with the new plug and post some results. I guess I will just resurrect this thread again when I can get the parts I need to keep it running.

does it smoke all the time really bad or were you just kinda putting around with it then it would smoke bad when you get on it?

I didnt really notice it when I was riding it a little harder. Once it hit powerband It wasnt as bad

huh, man thats how its supposed to act. i would slap your new carb on if you dont have mods put a 230 mikuni small hex jet in if you got a pipe or somethig mabey toss a 270 in for starters and ride that biatch. i bet your problem is plugs "loading up" then when you get on it the extra gas/oil is getting burned. edit: i see now you have a oko carb, lots of members use them so just ask around if you need jetting hwlp with it. i run a 34mm pj so im no help with your oko.
