Octane?

What octane fuel do you guys run?

I just got my Blaster after years of street bikes. I have always ran Shell V Power in my street bikes.....

Well, I just assumed running Shell V Power would be fine as long as I mixed it 32:1. Well, I was just reading a posting on Craigslist for 99 Blaster. The guy made mention that the compresion had been upped and could now run on 92 octane. I was wondering if running shell V Power would cause my engine to race?

I am thinking before I tear the carb back off and rebuild it that I should try running a lower octane fuel!

What do you guys think?

I run 93 for my stock engine. Mid grade gas (89/91) is a scam. its just 87 and 93 mixed together.

I run only sunoco 94 in all my toys and only good oil, Koltz, in my 2 stroke. Never had a problem with to good of fuel and since your only buying 5 gal. at a time it's not bad buying premium.

Well..... If you are running high grade fuel in a stock bike I am sure V Power won't affect the way mine is running. Guess it is into the carb I go!

91 is the highest I got in my area, so I run 91 with some octane booster. Seems to run good no pinging or knocking

I run Shell V Power with RedLine @ 40:1 in my blaster.

you wont need the higher anti detonation properties of race fuel on a stock compression blaster it wont do anything for power in that respect and it burns slower than pump gas ..but most race blends have other benefits like oxygen and lead added not too much mention they last longer i na container and are regulated much better than pump and have less water and ethanol to cause problems.when people say octane ratings its actualy the wrong wording it should be called anti detonation rating.. the standard system number is based off IF it actually had an octane rating
