X(i just rebuilt the my motor on my blaster. i deglazed it and put new piston, piston rings, and rod bearings, and new gasket kit, and i bought a new carb off ebay and the cap for the trottle is stripped. ok well i put it all back to gather and got it running and it idled so high that i had to turn it off. the screw for the idle u can take it in and out and it wont change nuthin. somehow i got the idle down and started to ride it around the yard and every time i tried to give it more gas it would die. dioes anyone know wats going on?.......thanks. P.s. it's a 1996 if that helps would like to have it running by this summer.

just check them to make sure there not damaged because if you have a broken reed petal it definatley will run like total sh*t.

so all i would really need to do is get another carb and check the reeds and it should run fine.....is there anything else i would need to check for

yeah i offically hate ebay, i wouldent buy used of off there , i bought an a-arm set and all of them were stripped and bent.

yea i kno wat u mean i bought all kind of stuff off ebay and i hadd to do something to it to make it work lol

some dude told me that the reeds could need to be clean?

^^Not likely^^ Reeds DO fail from time to time, but when this happens they either break, wear out and cease to seal properly, or stick shut. If the engine was just rebuilt, I'm sure you at least looked at the reeds. Right? As long as the reeds sit flat on the cage with no cracks or gaps and can flex open, the engine will run.

Your Blasty has an air leak. Somewhere. Air leaks lean the fuel:air mixture coming from the carbuetor right out. An air leak makes the engine idle high and erratically, and it will likely die out when you get on the throttle. What did you do about the stripped-out carburetor cap? The carburetor cap MUST seal FULLY for the engine to run properly. There should be an 'O' ring on the bottom of the carburetor cap. Is it still there and, if so, not pinched or dislocated?

Most of the time, stripped-out carb. cap threads cannot be fixed. You will probably need another carburetor if the cap won't tighten down firmly onto the carb.

If you were able to get a secure fit on the carb. cap, check your whole intake tract for loose clamps, holes in the carb. boot, and missing/damaged gaskets. (Only one gasket is used on the stock reed cage; it fits right between the reed cage and the jug; the intake manifold is [supposed to be] self-sealing against the reed cage.) Hope this info helps. I:I If all is A-OK in the intake tract, it is time for a crankcase leakdown test...

^^I try, man.^^ Hopefully without coming across as a know-it-all. Lol. I'm still new to Blasterforum, but have actually been working on small engines since age 7. My parents wouldn't let me work on too many quads after seeing how I rode. Until recently, that is, when they finally realized how little control they actually have over my life... :D
