not a newb jetting question... i hope

Looking for advice on jetting to get this as close as I can or a little rich.

New top end, one bore on cylinder, new uni oiled filter, (two stage? it has an inner and outer) and no lid otherwise all stock. Running a 32.5 pilot, 290 main.

Sea level, no elevation change where I'm at.

that might be a tad lean @ sea level ?
I usually suggest 270 thru 310 mains for similar setups/pipes,
start large and plug chop down.
plug chops, the best way to tune your main jet.....

What if it's hard to start?

I have to take the spark plug out and spray alot of fuel/oil off it to start it. Right after cleaning, it starts no problem.

Makes me think the jet is too big right off the bat.

Or maybe something else isn't right.

If you have to add fuel it's not lean. Either plugged pilot or malfunctioning choke , presuming you use it. When you pull pilot to clean , see what size it is.
