I'm thinking of getting the Nology ignition coil and plug wire setup, but I don't know if I am going to have to retard timing or anything like that. I have a theory that the different spark is going to cause detonation. Can anyone confirm whether I'll have to play with timing or anything like that, or even if I'll end up dealing with detonation?

I don't think the nology set up will cause detonation, the spark is just intensified by the wire which acts like a capacitor. It should help the gas burn better and more completely. As far as timing, I believe it should be fine without adjustment, but with the added intensity of the spark, you might be able to adjust it to get your blaster tuned better and possibly see a small gain.

If anything, you'll have fewer worries about detonation. The hotter spark produced by a Nology coil will be better able to ignite and burn the fuel charge in the cylinder. Therefore, more fuel will be burned, leaving less to coke up and deposit itself in the cylinder. These deposits can cause pre-ignition (just as deadly). Also, since the hotter spark from this coil still fires at the same time as the stock system, detonation shouldn't be of concern. You can increase your spark plug gap by at least .005" over stock, as well... This is a good investment... I:I
