Well my blaster was acting up today it was breaking up in the top & kinda bogging out. So i pulled carb off cleaned it pulled reed cage out lol & noticed a broken reed. I replaced it with stock boysen reeds & noticed i didnt even have reed stops. So heres the deal my buddy has a ysf200 also with fmf exh lid off & jetted I on the other hand have stock exh with just lid removed & jetted. With the reed stops out that i didnt even now where not there i would always pull hard away from him with his reed stops put on my cage i lost all my low end & now he pulls on me lol. Any ideas ???

without the reed stops the reeds flow a little better if that makes sense, a lot of people don't even use reed stops

/\/\/\ exactly what bronco said, they will "flutter" at high rpm's. mine actually would shut down at wot, till i put the stops back on, of course that was before my vf3's

Reeds,
Talk to Tony Doukas at TDR or Banshee Depot about reeds. He can build anything you want. We used to have him build a set of reeds for the racing outboard that were good for 5-6 passes. But good for 20 extra hp on a v6. On the other hand he can build a set to last a very long time. You will be surprised at how a reed works at high RPM.

Well the reeds i have are stock boysen reeds. I also have a new set of vito dual pedals & they come with a metal plate that i think elinminates the stock reed stops??????? Any body know for sure?? Thanks I:I
