No ownership! what do i do?

Ok so iv got a bit of an issue, so i think. I bought my quad and the guy wrote me a bill of sale thing, well i lost it. X( He didnt have an ownership cuz the guy he bought it from moved to italy and different things so thats gone. Basically what do i do? Do i need one i mainly ride on public or private land. Its also got a plate on it but the guy said its just for show so no one would stop me on the trail. Also i live in Ontario btw. plus if anyone know some good trails in southern Ontario please share I:I

Here in the states PA to be exact, you apply for a new title and registration/plate. about $45 bones

ok thats what i was gonna do. so i guess ill just go there with my vin and plate number and see what they say
