newbe needs advice

hey guys.. my son just rebuilt his 03 blaster and is trying to break it in.
after the 2nd break in period it started to sputter and bogg, cant even get out of first gear. it is completely stock, tors removed,oil injection gone. it has a 230 main jet in it and ia cant remember the piolet size. just need to get it going to do a plug chop. any thoughts?
 
did you retorque the head nuts and base nuts yet? actually is the parking brake on? or just unplug the sensor at the handlebars
 
ordered new reeds tonight. cleaned the carb at least 3 times for him since it started. also pulled the fuel line and drained the gas. i guess i will look at the reeds tomorrow.
 
is this the same kid that has the other 2003 fresh rebuild trouble thread? i told that kid i dont think he has his tors removed correctly.. on a 2003+ you need to cut the plugs and twist the wires together.
 
dont think im the same kid, the wires are twisted together and crimped. still havent got my new reeds yet but installed a new plug and it runs great. did this before and it lasted for about 20 min. going on about 30 min of riding now. still think i need to do a leak down test?
 
if you never did one after your rebuild yes! trust me the $20 tester is worth saving ur topend from a good grenading from running lean
 
sill havent been able to find how to make one and how to use it yet. know where i might look at, i did a search but didnt come up with much
 
Leakdown tests are a must, BUT! Did you say something about the Park Brake? If this is an 03+ and you haven't unplugged the switch at the clutch lever, then you MUST. It will bog you out big time. (Ignition kill/rev limit, but will still idle)
