I am new to the forum and new to blasters. I just got a 2001 from a buddy and it didn't run. Now its running but really rough. so i decided to make it a project. Any opinions on parts or anything like that would be great. I'd like to rebuild the whole thing. Thanks

welcome to the site! you will find all kinds of info in here to help you rebuild it. check out the full rebuilds section. If i was you i would learn about doing a leakdown test on it if its running weird and clean your carb and verify jetting. do you have aftermarket parts on it already? maybe check out introductions section and give us a pic!

Do a compression test first thing, before rebuilding (leakdown too, as above). If you have good compression, like 125psi or above, then hold off on the rebuild and spend your money on other stuff that your blaster probably needs.

There are so many ways to spend your Blaster Dollars.....

I did comp test and got about 116 and I had read all over this sight about 120 was time for a rebuild. Is this correct

So far I know I've got a fmf power core 2 and a fmf gold series fat pipe and heres a pic of my intake. Is this stock.

OK, 116 is kinda tired. Judgement call on whether to rebuild. VF3's don't have screws holding the reeds in the block, VF2's do. FMF pipe is decent, I would say it is fine until you start wanting to make major power. That is a stock unported intake.

are vf2 alright they seem to be in real good shape. What would be the best all around motor set up.

As royalt said 116 is tired but still ridable.

You can do a bunch of power stuff without spending big money. You've already got a decent pipe. You can remove the airbox lid and rejet your carburetor and be putting out decent power.

At some point you want to be picking up a top end gasket set and a set of rings. If you freshen up the top end before it's totally wore out you can sometimes be able to bring that compression back up without have to bore it.

What would cause it to rev real high when your going prety good and pull the clutch in. I already went through the carb its clean as can b and isn't sticking and I disconected the tors as I found on this forum.

thats a sure sign of a airleak someplace, you should really find that leak before you ride it more or else you are chancing cooking the top end. a leakdown tester is pretty easy to build, use the search button to find the diy's

it is lower. you might notice a change of 5psi by opening the throttle. this always more air to be drawn in to increase pressure.

The 116 was with the throtel open. Also I can operat the kickstart by hand not too easy but I can.

High revs means it's too lean.....so you're either too small on your main jet or your sucking air somewhere.

Good luck!
