im new to this site. I just bought a 2003 blaster a few weeks ago. I have owned a few of the late 80s early 90s blasters in the past. But I never messed around with them much just ran them till they died and moved on. I have owed and built a lot of wheelers in my life and would loved to have bought a yfz but life wife kids and home are now more important then toys. So I wanted a wheeler and for the price the blaster is what I could afford. I bought it for the orginal owner in perfect condition, all stock and not beat. After the wife and I went for a few rides the little blaster has grown on me. So I figured this forum would be a great resource. We live in the western mountains of Maine so a lot of steep rocky trails. I would like to make it wider and have a bit more power, I was thinking wheel spacers, silencer, boysen reeds, outer wears air box cover, small bar rise and hand guards. I'm hopeing that will improve it enough that it all the work I'll have to do. I want to keep the oil injection(makes it easy to get gas any where and not have to remember oil. Any input or advise would be greatly welcomed. Thank you

you're on the right track with the mods listed except one, a silencer will add no power, just sound.
you want a complete pipe and silencer, and rejet with plug chops, to wake up the little beast within
when you decide on a pipe we can suggest a starting range for your jetting....
FMF, DMC, Pro Circut for low/mid power, Toomey for mid/high power,
or a right bend LRD, Dyno Port, CT/Trinity, if you can find one, for a top end screamer.

Great idea to keep the oil injection, just keep the tank topped up and bleed the system if the bike flips over.
Do not underestimate the humble Blaster it can be made a fast, stable fun bike with a few mods.
If you do hills, it may be a good idea to look at a longer swing arm as Blasters like to look upward on steep climbs.

What do you mean plug chop? And yes blaster I would like to extend the swing arm but don't think it will be in the budget. But on the other hand I like the front end coming up on the hills it adds excitement.

I ran 2 sets of ATV engineering wheel stud spacers for awhile with zero issues. You can probably pick up 16 stud spacers on eBay for $40-$50.
Look into a unifilter, its a great airfilter and once you own it you can clean and oil it yourself.
And to answer the plug chop question....its when you are checking to make sure your jetting is on. There are numerous threads on it here, and blaaster has a cookbook instruction sheet on how to do it.
Another thing you want to do is make sure your motor is air leak free. A air leak will lean out the AFR, make excessive amounts of heat, then your rebuilding your motor. Buy or build a leakdowb tester. awk08 sells them.
Look at old threads for ideas and don't be afraid to ask questions, someone here has experienced it or knows the answer.
