Just purchased my first quad the other day, a 2000 Yamaha Blaster I:I I got a great price on it but got the quad not being able to shift into gear.

The quad started up fine but would jump and then stall when put into a gear. After a couple of hours being clueless, I realized there was very little crankcase oil... put a couple ounces and it went right into gear!

Anyways, as stated above, it's my first quad and I joined the forums to learn more about it, learn more about mods, and simply more about 2 stroke engines.

From what I was told, it has a kit and is now 240cc? Looks like it was beat on by the previous owner(s) and needs some TLC. Slowly ordering parts to tune it up.

Coming in the mail as we speak: NGK Spark plug and a clutch cable. Also purchased SAE 10w-30 Synthetic Penzoil ... couldn't get my hands on the Yamalube and was told I could use this.

Here it is! :D

welcome to BF !!!!

650 ml of trans oil, that 10w will be fine

lets get some more pics up, and of that "240" cylinder as well ???

Welcome.

The very first thing that I would advise you to do is a leak down test.

So many 2 strokes are sold because they do not run just right and the PO know nothing about leak testing.

Just a little air leak can kill a good motor in just a few minutes riding.
