my cousin has an '01 blaster and he already put on a fmf power core 2 and fatty pipe and now we just put on a PWK 30mm carb and it won't idle

we tried adjusting the idle screw and it made no difference, i couldn't get it to idle with my thumb slightly on the throttle, the idle kept racing up with just a touch of the throttle

it also came with a couple other jets, a 148, a 152 and some other longer lookin' thing, i don't remember the number on that

any clue to what the problem could be???

i was wonderin' if the problem could be that there isn't a jet in there and maybe we should put one of those two in? :(

if you didnt have a jet it wouldnt even start... your problem lies either in the jetting like you said or in the clip on the needles position. either way sounds like your getting too much fuel rather not enough

i do recall seein' a needle in there that had different grooves in it with a clip on it, maybe thats it?

the needle goes vertically through the slide and is attached to the throttle cable. been a while since i messed with carbs... but check the jet first and if either of the jets you have are smaller put the one closer to the one thats in there and try again, also you can check your sparkplug too see if its rich or lean.

my cousin told me the old carb needed new floats so the dealer told him to get a new one, sounds like they wanted a sale

Kinda like 97badass said.....It sounds like you have your "slide" in the wrong place so its not seating like it should...check your slide with your filter off and look through the carb..when you raise your throttle it should be prevolent, and when you release it, it should only be a 1/8 to a 3/16 off the bottom of the carb. That u shaped thingy,in the hole. If you have eany questions contact my secratary.

Cut the electrical wires going into the throttle box and splice them together. If you haven't already done this, THIS IS DEFINATELY THE PROBLEM. I just went through this problem about 7 days ago.

It is part of the tors system. I ripped out my old carb and cut the wire from the tors. So the whole old carb and tors was completely separated from the quad. I put in the new carb and fired the blaster up. I could get it to run fine except if i took my thumb all the way off the throttle. I couldn't figure it out. I kept hearing this little clicking noise when i would let totally off the throttle. So i took the three screws off the throttle housing and found there was a little button with 2 wires connected to it. The throttle would activate the button when there was no pressure being put on it. I thought since I had ripped the tors out i was fine, but I guess that button connects to the ignition systems somewhere. As soon as i took the button out and spliced those two wires together the thing idled perfectly.

I'll take a look at the wiring diagram on the airplane tommorrow and post back for sure whats up.

You can remove those two wires completely, as well as the carb wires if you also remove the TORS brain that is under the hood, it will have the same style connector, but I think 4 wires instead of 3. It is not the one that the wires have individual connectors. Remove all of that, and you have successfully eliminated the TORS system.
