Ok so as many of you know, I am parting out my 240 Stroker to move up a class in racing. I've looked at 450's and even 400's and they are outrageously expensive. So here's the deal. I need some opinions. At the local track we are about 1/4 of the way into the season and I really want to race. So here are the options
Option A:I could buy a 1986 LT250R with a bad crank and repair and build that. The cost of the 250 build would come out to be around $1300 for a piped machine with reeds and I would end up with a snappy two stroke race quad. I will be able to be racing by the end of the year.
Option B:I could save up for this year and next and buy a 450. I wouldn't have cash to upgrade it but if I get on a TRX450R I already have a guaranteed sponsorship deal that will provide me with Stage 2 Hot Cams, High Comp piston, PEP suspension, Roll Design A-Arms, and free race fuel. It will take 2 years to save up enough. I'm looking at around $3000+ for a TRX.
If I get the 250R I will be placed with the 450's. What do you guys think? I need opinions.
