I just traded an old boat for a blaster that has a big bore kit the top end is fried I pulled it apart and the piston is junk the cylinder doesn't look bad it has some scratches the rest looks good the connecting rod looks good so here's my deal should I hone the sleeve that in there ans buy a new piston that's the same as the other size or try to replace the sleeve to prevent this ? And is there a chart to identify the displacement by the diameter of.the cylinder? What are the best brands price wise to buy ? Fyi I'm a semi skilled mechanic but I have minimal experience with small 2 stroke engines

the big bore cylinders only allow 2 over bore sizes, so you'll need to measure that one, have a shop measure it for you, or possibly read the numbers on the top of the piston, to see what bore it is currently on.
if possible, it's perfectly acceptable and cheaper to just buy a new over bore piston, and have that cylinder
bored/honed to fit that exact piston.
no need for a new sleeve unless that one has already been bored the max times allowed.

here's the bore to cc chart:

As a semi skilled mechanic, you would be aware that the cylinder will have to be bored to the next size if it does not measure up to specifications!

If it measures up and the scratches will hone out (they rarely do) then all you may need is a new piston and rings.

Ok that helps also considering buying a new jug and piston is there any good ones out there for a decent price
