need jetting advice

My float level has never been changed and I have never had a problem cleaned pilot and still nothing idle comes up a little when air screw is fully seated moved the clip 1 above middle and it's running alot better but need to get the 300 main out and put in a 290 still smokes alot and running a little hot I don't get it I leaned the carb and the engine cooled down why is that?
dont take this the wrong way but... i feel like youre not listening and/or comprehending. please listen to these guys.. especially blaaster and AWK. start by cleaning that carb. set float... get it warm and set air screw... then clip position then main jet.. takes time but its easier than spending more money on the engine
