Need help!!!!

Ok, so either the person before me cut the parking brake wire out of the stator, or this engine is off of an older model, cuz there is no green wire coming out of the stator, however, my cdi box has a green lead that leads back to the engine compartment, and there is nothing to plug it into.

Green wire is headlight low beam.

White/Red, Black/Red, these are ignition, they go to the cdi.. Yellow/Red, this is lighting, these are the wires coming from the stator.

Did you check your reeds?

I'm going to do that tonight.

As far as the green wire, I meant the green and white wire that runs from the stator to the cdi box in 03 and newer models. It's on my cdi box,and runs back to my stator, but there is nothing to plug it into. My theory on that is that my blaster is an 03 with an 02 or older engine/stator, pre-parking brake.

Ok, so I checked the reeds, they are clean, no cracks, bows, gaps, etc. I put them back in, first kick it fired right up. Out had great throttle response, no hesitation. Sounded great. I let off the gas to see if it would idle, and it died. Now I can't get it to start again.

One of your reeds may have slipped down a little bit, if you have the vf3 reeds they must be installed very carfeully. Make sure you squeeze the whole assembly together then hold them against your engine until the top left and bottom right screw is securing them. If you wiggle them around during installation your reeds may slip down from the correct position. I had this problem before and my blaster died 2 minutes into a ride.

So upon a second look at the reeds, I motived a slight warp in one. I flipped it over, and it started right up, idled great, I put it in gear, made about a lap and a half around the block, and fouled the plug. I'm gonna say I've got reed issues. I'm going to yamaha tomorrow to pick up a new set. hopefully it'll fix my issues, and i'll have a good running blaster for less than $600

Don't bother with the stock reeds, buy a set of dual stage boyeson or vito's. Boyesen's last longer but cost twice as much (still less than factory I'd guess). They'll improve throttle repsonse a bit.

Make sure, anytime you mess with the reeds, you use blue loctite on the reed stop screws. Nasty boogers have a tendency to vibrate loose and can back out.

Thanks for all the help guys, had I not come here, I prolly wouldn't have even thought to check the reeds. I'm gonna start work soon on finishing the body, frame, and wheels then i'll post some pics to show it off a little bit. I'm going with an orange and black theme. Orange fenders and wheel hubs, black hood, tank, and frame. Does anyone know where I can get orange and black nerf bars?
