I have a 90 Blaster that sadly I left out in the rain one night, a few days later I go to ride it and all of a sudden the engine starts to scream and won't stop. The kill switch won't stop it nor pulling the boot off of the spark plug. The only I can do is put it in gear and hold the breaks to get her to quite down. Thought water might have got into the throttle cable and froze up which might have been holding it open. Took it apart and dried it and re oiled the cable but still doing it. Can anyone share some help so I don't blow engine up?
Thanks

pull the carb and see if the slide is stuck open, and might as well give it a good cleaning ans set/check the floats to 20 -21.5mm
then after reassembly you'll need to check for airleaks, preferably with a leakdown tester, if you dont have one...holeshotman on here sells them, or theres a "diy" on here to build one, either way just get one, before riding it again, or you'll be on here askin "which piston is best/good builder" questions
i sure wished it was mandatory for everyone on here to list where they are from ???
so we could offer up our own or others in your area for help < possibly loan you a leakdown tester

But how is the engine still running after the spark plug boot is off. My kill switch stops working when the thing is in screaming mode also. You don't think it is a wet short somewhere off the magneto or along the lights? (my fault for leaving it in a heavy rain and then getting cold) Where could the air be leaking in at? Seals aren't leaking, carb is tight and air box also. Cleaned the carb last night, fired up on the first kick and within 20seconds she started acting up again. I don't want to fry the head on this thing just got her a few weeks ago and 25 acres to play on. where should I look?
Thanks

you need a leakdown tester, if you cant get one for some reason start it and spray carb cleaner around untill it boggs down, around the carb, around your intake and where the base gasket is. but if its screaming when you start it i wouldnt even think to start it untill a proper leakdown test is performed. you are running waaaaaaay lean thats why its screaming.

But how is it running without spark? take the boot off of anything and it will stop. But what is keeping it going?

its still running because its so freekin lean and spinning so fast the fuel is combusting under the pressure and heat, very similiar to a diesel engine. its very bad for your motor

it's called "deiseling" its running so lean and hot, it doesnt need spark, and will fry your piston, or "head" as you call it, complete failure is coming soon if you dont get a tester, it will show you leaks you never thought existed, < you cant see them and definately cant just say "ah, everything is tight", it's leaking somewhere,
fix it or fry it !!!!!!!!!!!!

damn noobs, you're on game today, beat me by a minute or so again, must be them scooby snacks, hahahaaaaa

Thank you for all of your info on the matter. I hope to hell I don't kill the thing before I fix it right. I'll let you guys know how I made out, good or bad. Hopefully GOOD. Thanks again

well is it like the vid or what man?? if its doing that you really really need to fix it or it IS going to blow up.

It is exactly like that video. I put the word out for a leak tester, I'm sure one of my buddies have it. If not I got a bike service place I go for all the goods. Now I have to start riding my Polaris 350 4x4 Trailboss while this is laid up. Thanks again man.
