need help with a decision

so i hav been lookin around and i found this 1985 atc250r shock

and this 1986 atc250r shock

which one looks like better condition, just want some opinions cuz they both look alright. the one that is an 85 is 18" which is i think the same as the 86 one. just not sure if one is not gonna fit right because i heard only 86-89 work or sumthin. the both look the same length and both have 9 coils

also one bid end 1 day before the other so if they seem to be both about the same, if i lose the first one i could bid on the other one

my 2cents: dont buy something so old in something so important as suspencion, u dont know for sure how many repairs have been done on that... is better waste a few bucks more on something thats gonna least longer then left u wit broken back in 2 jumps...


maybe should aim to 450, ltz, xr600, or used elka...


as i said, my 2 cents, but if i have to pick 1 of those, i would pick the 2nd, the 86

ok thanks, i just like how the "suposably" mount really easy, and they are both only 10 bucks.

spend the extra $40 and get a 400ex shock, 20 years newer and fairly easy to mount, especially with ken oconnors top shock bushings, $18 shipped, makes it a 1/2 hour install

I'd suggest going with a newer 400ex shock as well. You can get a good deal on one if you watch ebay, and it'll be a lot less worn than a 20+ year old shock.

yeah id go with a 400ex shock and hit up occonner for then bushings......they work really well

i heard that a 400ex shock is for bigger guys, i want it to be softer then the blaster shock. i only way 135lbs

well im gonna try for one of these shocks. i know i wont end up getting a 400 shock and ill take my chances with it being old and all. hopefully i win one of the bids.
