Hi guys, im new to this forum and new to blasters. However i am not new to working on motors any any means. Hope you guys can help me out...

(Problem)
I just got an 01 blaster it wont start by kicking it. If i tow it behind my friends truck we can get it started that way but it will only stay running at high rpms (almost full throttle) but then it dies out. When i check the plug after it has ran it looks to be wet, but does not smell like gas at all. Seems like water?!?

(Whats done)
The blaster is bone stock besides a full fmf pipe, i dont think the motor was ever rebuilt.

(What i tried)
The first thing i did was check for compression it has good compression around 125psi i believe. It has good spark (just replaced the spark plug) I checked to make sure it was getting gas and it was, i also replaced the gas to make sure it was good and has not been sitting. I also checked the carb and floats and everything seems decently clean, floats were fine. I checked the reeds and on one it was cracked and missing the top part of it. I slid teh reed upward so that it was covering the entire hole in the cage. This did nothing. Im stuck. Would one bad reed really cause it not to run at all?!? its still mostly there and is still covering the hole that its supposed to.

PLEASE HELP!

ya new reeds but that shouldnt be why its not starting though. when i had to replace my reeds the main problem was really sh*tty throttle response

Well im picking up a whole new reed cage with reeds tomorrow used from a kid. so i was going to start with doing that. If it don't start then, then what? check jets?

The guy that i got the quad from said that yesterday he went to start it, he said it started up in two kicks. He was letting it warm up at idle then all of a sudden it died. And now this is how it is acting...weird huh?

EDIT: the idle screw i thought about, but could it honestly just make it stall like that and not restart again? i just find it hard to believe it could be that...

How hard is it to check/clean the jets?

is it trying to fire and did you check if you are getting spark??????

Yes read^^ it is getting spark.. it does not really want to fire by kick. I have to pull it with a truck very fast to get it running. When it does run it has to be adn almost full throttle adn then after a few minutes it dies.

completely tear apart the carb and clean everything inside real good, u are getting spark, because u said it runs by pulling it and it runs at wide open throttle then dies...sounds like the pilot jet is clogged up, clean it up try a new plug and see it that helps

to check the main jet. just open up the carb and it the little bronze hexagon shaped thing with a hole in the middle. it will say the size on the top, stock is 230. if it is the stock jet get a bigger one, try a 260, 270 or 280 because that fmf pipe is letting better airflow then the stock pipe, therefore needin the more feul to match it.

i have the same problem when i checked the the tors all the wiring was screwed so im picking up a diagram of and then we'll see
