my buddy just got a 99 blaster that had been sitting for a couple of years we checked the compression, changed the plug, cleaned the carb, replaced the air filter, and had the bike running really good for about two hours but then it started shuttin itself down and hasnt ran since, weve double checked everything except for the reeds and the cylinder itself. the bike is bored .80 over so not sure if it just got hot and siezed up or wat? the bike still holds good compression and turns over freely just wont start. Could the reeds cause it to not run at all, or does it have sumthin to do with it possibly gettin to hot?

have you checked t see if it has spark? definately check the reeds, and what numbers are you getting on the comp test? it needs to be over 100lbs, 120+ is better

yea its gettin spark and fuel and the compression test shows 140lbs, the guy he got it from said that he rebuilt it and only started it a couple of times, could it be that the engine wasnt broke in properly? i think it just got to hot because the jug is so thin, but idk for sure. Is it even possible for a heat damaged piston and cylinder to hold compression?

Yes it is. But, you could be right about it getting too hot and seizing. What mods are done to it and what size main jet are you running? Could've ran it too lean.

as far as mods its pretty basic its got wiseco .80 over, and the stock pipe and i aint sure on the main jet im pretty sure its a little bigger than stock. we did put my stock carb on it for a while and its got a 230 main.
