A friend of mine has a 99 Yamaha Blaster and he is looking for new tires for it. He want to put 18-11-9 tires for more torque. Wondering how much top end he will lose?
Well, his stock tires are 21-10-9.

Thanks in advance for any input.

he will lose abit on top with 18s......but how can he have stock 9 inch rims, blasty stock rims are 8 inch, banshee stock rims are 9 inch

you will only notice top end loss if your always on the pipe goin through feilds and such,,, i love my 20's, they are awesome and have excellent clearence on the trails, u should get 20's in my opinion... and like freek said, the stock rim size IS 8''

18 inchers are nice, but you loose top end and need to re gear, 20 inchers are nice, but not as good on the track as 18 inchers and 21 and 22 inchers are good for snow, that about it.

o yea i have 22's on my blaster. i love the clearance i get for the mud that i gotta ride through.. helps out alot on the trails too.. i use to have 18"s but i got stuck all the time on the trails an it sucks so thats when someone gave me there 22"s for free i said f*ck it an tried them out an work pretty good

the nice thing about 22 inchers is that you can pop the clutch in 1st gear and wheelie forever , i havd it in 4 th geaar while shifting on a wheelie. i have 22x12-8 tires and i have a prob though, the tabs that used to hold my heel guard on hit the tires when i turn cause of the tire case flexing, should i just cut the tabs off since i don't run the plastic crapy guards and more.

I love my 18"s! Great hook up and sliding performance, don't forget lightweight! If you don't ride anything too extreme I recommend them to anyone.

I wouldn't mind trying a 22 front 20 rear combo someday though, thats supposed to be the ideal all around handling and clearance set up.
