my son learning to ride/LT80 vid

yeah, I bought it like that. dunno what all it has. they told me it's a 90cc so I figured either proX or weisco and it has weisco stickers. has a 22mm or something mikuni on it with some *custom* rigging to make it work LOL basically ghetto rigged but runs champ lol got it for $200 as it is. only thing I changed was the brake cable on one side and newer same bar pad I had from a pitbike..

I have new brake and throttle cables to put on. oh, and I put the spark plug on from my other LT80 since it's broken anyway lol it's pretty bad, when on the street I sit as far back as my legs can reach (I'm 5'7" 120#s so short legs) and just nail it to like half throttle and it stands up. haven't opened the clutch cover so no idea what mods it has in there if any...

wanted it to look like a grown up quad instead of little kid quad. so I traded some sounds for a 3rd LT80 and used it for parts. had Douglas wheels with some 18x9.5 turf tamers on back and stock fronts as the front wheels are 8"s too so I can use all my other stockers as fronts now :D it also has a pull starter (ours only had electric it's an aftermarket/upgrade part) as well as new plastics and a half good motor... the motor is cracked at the back so I can use the crank and pulleys and such to make my other LT 80 run now. ordered a gasket set and pulled the motor. anyway, here's some pix with the larger tires. I do have spacers front and back too so it almost looks too wide lol

we'll see how it rides this weekend.

I want to get a set of sand sharks or gekko's for the ITP 8s and 10"s we'll see.. found a set of used Holeshots on CL but they're in honolulu so I'd need to convince my mom or somebody to pick them up for me lol. they could be sold already tho. the guy never returned my text or email :( $60 w/4 lug ITPs... figured I'd sell the wheels and have almost free tires... or at least they'd cover my mounding cost of $20 at the local zuki shop...

man, well, I got to test ride the tires yesterday.. seemed like a completely different bike. it bit but would still light up the tires offroad or when trying. but it also bites good an stands up almost too much on concrete... you really either go nowhere or it stands up for a little before u go anywhere LOL.

throttle is sticking something fierce tho so no riding til I fix that. went up my buddies hill, came back down and it stuck straight towards his house... there was a dual roost line across his line like 30 or so feet long then as I got to 5 feet from the stairs I spun it and wipped the tail around and finally managed to hit the kill switch... the cable was a damaged so I tried to change it out, but the spare new one I got was 1/2" too short so upon testing would rev too. and being a CVT I need to remove the clutch to have it not jump around when reving LOL.

oh yeah, I picked up a grab bar from ebay off a yamaha 225 and retro'd it on yesterday (that was the actual reason for being at my buddies house yesterday) and polished the pull start and put it on this morning too so it looks a little nicer from the left side and rear :)

can't wait to get the throttle stick fixed so we can go ride. my kid asked me like monday if we could go friday :( gonna try to get a new cable today that works and see if I can fix it. if not I'll put a stock bore and carb on I suppose when my gasket set comes in.. at least he could ride after that.... I actually have another jug/piston that's 0.5mm over so I could use that one since it's removed from the last LT80 I picked up and sitting atm..

eh, couldn't get a cable, so I cut the carb side metal piece off along with the cable under it and gained the 1/2" I needed but it felt like the carb slide is what's sticking. I had it going most of the way but a little sticky at times still. I ended up re-jetting it as well, it has a 26mm (on the air inlet side at least it said 26) mikuni carb with a 210 main, so I pulled the front variator off and did some no load rev testing and to get it clean I had to set the needle to the highest setting, so I figured it needed a leaner jet, so I got a 200 and a 190 and put the 200 in and put the needle back to the middle setting and it revs without bogging now, but I need to see if I need it leaner or richer now and go from there... I'll play with the needle and if it needs to go richer I'll adjust the needle lower if it needs leaner I'll try the 190 jet...

also pulled the head gasket off as I heard it would raise compression like milling the head. dunno how thick the gasket is but it still ran fine so I imagine it's ok... I have a spare jug and cyl and a stock carb so if I can't tune it I'll just throw on the 1/2 size over stocker I have and run that. but I really want to get one of the sets ported a little or port it myself.. just not sure what I wanna do really...

I posted pix/vids of him on his kasea 90 as well, this thread is one of the oldest ones lol. we've since fixed and broke the LT80 probably 4 more times. cracked cases and replaced them, then cracked axle carrier mounts and just got a used bottom end and put it all back together AGAIN a couple weeks ago lol.

my sons kasea 90 is sitting on a trx250r frame that the rear was shortened and uses the stock kasea swingarm..

stock 250r arms (thinking of getting long travel or at least some +2 standard travels but just not sure yet which ones, plus I wanna throw more money at my bike LOL) 250r works shocks, can't wait to get a stabilizer since its a 250r front half :)

I had some vids of him riding it but not sure where I put them all lol. here's his 1st ride on it. I think I may have to upload more or something...
