Could be one on many things, but most likely piston slap.
I thougt mine had piston slap after my first outing with the new bike, had a leaky crank seal and decided to replace all the gaskets and seals.
While apart, I checked the clearances, which seemed to all be in spec. I did however notice that the top piston ring was not held properly by the locating pin... A timebomb! So I replace the piston too.
Funny thing is, I discovered where the knocking sound came from. It was the ballance shaft weight knocking in the casing. The bearings were worn badly and causing the interference. (Spi n8ng the ballance shaft gear by hand would cause the knocking sound)
