this is probably the 3rd or 4th post i had this week about a problem with my blaster. its really annoying me because i just bought it and i didnt want to buy something that had problems. im not a mechanic but i want to work on it myself and save myself money. i jetted the quad yesterday and it idles good. i had it running for about 5 minutes and then it started idleing really high. this after market carb only has 1 screw so i didnt know what to do to make it idle lower. i put the quad in gear and tried to just move it up a little bit and it died every time i let off the clutch no matter how much gas i gave it. what is the problem?

whats the plug look like? have you checked your reeds? pulled the gas line off the carb to see if gas is flowing from the tank? start with the basics and go from there man. whats the jetting at now?

the plug was pretty black yesterday before i jetted it but its a brand new plug and i cleaned it off. i didnt check my reeds yet but i did check to see there is gas going from the tank to the carb. the jetting now is 140 main and 40 pilot. it doesnt have an air box, its a 30mm mikuni carb and its bored .60 over with an fmf exhaust

i have a 35 mm mik and my jeting is like a blasters jeting just a lil more fuel am a 35 poilet and a 370 main i would clean the carb and i would look at the reeds

i have a 30 mm mikuni, mods are in my sig, last i rode it was 0 degrees F, ran a 390 main, 55 pilot, bottom clip, mixture screw 1 1/2ish turns out, ran like a champ, idle mixture is on the right side and idle is on the left side if your sittin on your quad looking for them, that is if you have a vm roundslide like mine, i like to run my stuff a little fatter than most though and i've noticed a clamp on filter seems to make my jettin a little more finiky, maybe that's just me

Are you sure it's a 140 main or is that a typo? These other guys with the same carb are saying like 370-390 mains. If so, you are WAY WAY lean.

lol just like he said that what i was trying to get at hahahha that would be like crazy lean

well the kid that i bought the quad from said these were the jets recommended to him for it. before i jetted it the carb had a 250 main jet and it was really rich

hmmm that weird i would check your reed a biger carb means more air and that means more fuel if you have a bad reed set it could let more fuel in so your jeting down then your going to be lean i would check the reeds

i checked my reeds and they are fine. its running good now because there was a leak from the intake boot but i fixed it. its still idling a little high but its running good and it rides nice. you think its really running too lean? because when i had a 250 main jet it was really rich and wouldnt idle at all. i dont have an airbox i have a uni pod filter on the back of the carb, bored .60 over and an fmf exhaust. right now its jetted at 140 main 40 pilot.
