Motor swap!!!! Ninja ex500

once i get back home i can post up some pics of sportbike motor swaps that i have done. i've never had to hack a frame but i've built a few sets of custom motor mounts to get the holes to line up.

ok here's a thought. since you guys are doing massive mods to the frame already, couldn't you mount the motor lower? tilt the motor forward about 10 or 15 degrees from where it's at now, lower it's position an inch, maybe 2, and that should clear up almost 3" of headroom?

no, because the strength of the bottom of the frame is very important, so is the top but i was willing to cut the top more than the bottom because of the pushing forces, the bottom could get pulled apart much easier on a hard landing

alrighty, i got off of the phone with my dad and he hasnt done a damn thing to my blaster, as i figured, but i got my wiring harness in and mysprocket should be here soon, and im picking up all of the electronics ex, the cdi reg/rec, on monday then i will need the carbs and a radiator, thats all to get it running, i will then need to jet the carb because im gonna run 2 uni pod filters

if you made new lower frame rails, out wider, maybe....it would allow you to drop it. Strength? the frame was made to begin with, very quickly might I add, if you take your time make and weld it good, it dont matter what you cut.....Hell cut it in half, set the motor were it will work good, and put it back together around the motor, making new lower rails, and uppers however you have to do it. Use bigger thicker tubing if you want.

i am using thicker tubing, thicker waled and a hair bigger, im not sure what i want to do, it would be nice if there was more room in the engine bay

well, i got the harness and the electronic components all connected up and ready to plug into the motor, im at my apartment all week so that is about the only thing i can do interms of progress for the blaster, hopefully my dad will work on the frame
