Motor making a popping noise

[1999 blaster]

I start it up and I'd have to keep it running and I rev it up and it's okay then it starts makin a popping noise and shuts off my head gasket is okay I ckecked it what could it be my gas may be a little too rich would that do it cause my plug was wet

yes that could be it. as a matter of fact it could be a lot of things. was it running fine before and now it just started this? what did you recently do to the bike?

didnt u say you could feel air popping out from the head area in your other thread? does it still do that or what? haveing a rich mixture wouldnt do that, if u were way rich it would just bog and run like ass

yeah sounds lean, thats what mine sounds like when i run the gas out of the carb for storage. kinda sputtery, popping noises. do a leakdown test before you ride it anymore
