How could this be? I was riding the other day and it's pretty cold (40 degrees or so) and I swear it has more power...

u were probly already runnning to rich. so in the cold it evened in out so u have more power. mine i am running a good jet so when it gets cold i lose power so i gotta go up a jet size in the cold.
cold air is denser so you were getting more air. thats why ur supposed to jet a few sizes up for winter.
yeah it can be harmfull. if you plan to ride all winter just toss a 240 jet in, ur at 230 now if its all stock.
it not harmful to have more power. with it being jetted correctly now its better for ur engine. running rich isnt harmful i dont think it wil just make u lose power. when it goes back to warmer weather drop ur main jet down one size and u should get the power back that u had in cold weather.
I'll be having different jetting anyways because I'm getting a new pipe and changing to a Uni airfilter.
you can determine if its too lean with a plug check. like that guy up there said, cold air condenses more, more air=less fuel=leaner. leaner=more power (to an extent), however leaner, especially on a two stroke can lead to overheating and meltdowns. a two stroke relies on the fuel/oil mixture to lubricate the cylinder walls/crank and keep it cool at the same time. if your running lean (which can be determined by white deposits on your spark plug) you need to buy larger jets immediately to compensate for the extra air entering your cylinder.
