So finally got my blaster running. It will idol but when I hit the throttle and then let go it idles up but will stay high for a 15 to 20 seconds then will finally drop back down. Is that Normal? Also today when I was riding it I stopped to let my son catch up and I pulled the clutch and it reved super High so high I thought it was going to blow I hit the kill switch and it did not shut it down. I had to pull the front brake and let out on the clutch to stall it. I Started it back up and it was fine.. Any idea what caused that? switch worked fine to after that? Im baffled.

yes trust me i am dealing with the same exact problem as you are my blaster had the exact same syptoms i am still working on my air leak. mine was at the reeds. defiantly do a leak test.

well i would eliminate tor anyway cause they are a pain in the rear and you could see if it helps you i just unpluged all my tors conections to delete mine that way if for some reason i wanted to hook it back up all i would have to do is plug them back in when i did it on mine it helped some but i would start mine have to rev it once or twice to keep it running and then it would keep on reving higher and higher till i was scared she may blow

Definatly is a lean mixture , possibly caused by an air leak.

The reason the kill switch did not work is that it was so hot in the combustion chamber that either carbon or the plug was red hot, igniting the fuel charge without the need for a spark.

Commonly known as "dieselling", or "pre-ignition"

Do a leak down test before you start it again.

Dude, if you pull the clutch and the engine revs up, its an airleak.

Most common place for it to be is on the crank seal behind the flywheel. Thats where it was for me. I melted, and fragmented a wiesco piston because I kept riding mine thinking I was OK.

So no way the tors can be the issue? My only option is a air Leak?

yupp airleak. just check it. and no it wont be the tors. the tors does the oppsiteby cutting off the spark to the engine making it sound like it "bogs". if u have a pre 03, just unplug the all the wires for it. if u have 03+ u need to clip the throttle wires, and splice them together.

Ok. Going to build a Leak down tester today. Hope to have built and try and see where I have a leak. Hope its something simple.

I do have a question though. I have a 02 but when I unplug the tors at the carb I do not get spark. What am I doing wrong

then u have an 03! lol read up on the DIY on how to do it..... its easy. or ur unpluging the worng wires...... theres a connector on top of the carb. unplug that then try.
and PM Slickerthanyou for his leak tester! there really awesome and work great!

You also have to unplug the tors at the throttle and the tors brain box.

If it passes a leak test, is your exhaust leaking? You can have an air tight motor and have a leaking exhaust and will have the same symptoms, I've been there, don't care what anyone says a leaking exhaust flange needs fixed! You will drive your self crazy trying to jet it with an exhaust leak! I've been there! I believe the 02's have a parking brake too, unhook that also to take that out of the picture.

yupppp i made a thread about it when i got my fmf! its impossible to plug chop, makes crappy power, and make it run really lean!
