Hey guys! I have a 2003 yamaha blaster with a k&n air filter, fmf fatty gold series with a powercore 2 silencer, and razr tires in the rear. I want to put some more goodies onto it so what do you guys think i should add to it next..

Power
Port work, head mod, 240 kit (sleeve or cylinder), larger carb, reeds, +3 to +5 stroker crank, 14 tooth front sprocket.
I'd suggest calling an engine builder, such as Ken Oconnor, and getting their advice according to your budget. Ken's link is in my signature.

Suspension
400ex rear / banshee front for the cheaper upgrade

Port and polish and head machining.
$60 for the head and $150 for the port and polish done by Ken. Many will suggest him as the great results from his work.

Other builders include Flotek and Wildcard Racing.

Here's some pictures... pictures are worth 1000 words.
Porting (This is the intake) - This is FLOTEK work, taken from his site.

Head machining
The one on the left is before, right is after

Both of these modifications are worth every penny, they will add tons of power, low end to top end.

would i need to re jet it after words?

ya i had some bad times with rejetting, after i got my exhaust on i took my quad to a local yamaha dealer to rejet and they completely fvcked it up and i think it was running to lean and yeah results weren't to wellX(

The builder will talk you through jetting, I'm sure. You are probably looking at upping your jet size about 5 with port/head mods.

Your best bet, if you are interested in these mods, is to contact the builders and talk to them. See who you feel confident in, and go with them.

There has been tons of successful builds from the people I have listed above (FLOTEK, Ken, Wild Card). There are others out there, but we on Blaster Forum take pride in those 3. Most people on here recently have been contacting Ken Oconner, but the other 2 are great as well.

Here is contact information links!

the only mod you wont need to rejet after is reeds. you even need to rejet if you take the airbox lid off

id do port work reeds and then suspension and id call it good and then go to looks

i completly dissagree with this i would do suspesion first
reason one
blaster come with the worst kind of suspesion ever
reason two
you cant go very fast if you're being thrown everywhere
reason three
if he takes it to the track thats where the new mods to the suspesion will realy shine.
for cheap but noticable i would say a 400ex rear shock and some banshee fronts. this will be in your price range then you would have some left over for some other things like port work.
or theres always a 250r rear witch is a better shock but you will need your shock mount adjusted for it but will be worth it this will cost some more.
then for front looks for some used works this setup would run more but still should be in your price range but it will handle way better and would be worth every penny, and you might have enough left over for port work still depends on the deals you get on the parts.

when doing the port work i would sugest a hone and new set of rings because you will already have it apart and sent out rings are going to run about 20-35 hone should only be about 10-20 i beleve.

hope this helps if you have anymore questions just ask I:I
