I eagerly await the delivery of my Mikuni TMXX 35mm D-Slide Quad vent carb.
I have never used one before. Has anyone experienced any problems with them.

Please let me know of your findings, good or bad. Thanks

I am running a 34mm Mikuni TM on my Blaster. Basically the same carburetor with fewer vent lines. It has been an absolute pain in the ass to get dialed in. I got it pretty close for the Busco trip, but I've got a ways to go to get it just right. Part of the problem is that very few people run this carb (and even fewer of us have the new model carb...most guys that do run one got it off an old 250r) so there isn't much help out there when it comes to jetting and needling.

I like my carb and it works VERY well when cold. The Blasty usually starts without the enrichener pulled out. Here's a few of the observations I have when it comes to Mikuni carbs... A. They have a very stiff throttle slide return spring, so get ready to work out your right thumb. B. You will need a reed spacer to get it to clear your clutch arm. I also had to grind down part of the carb casting to get it to clear the lower left intake boot bolt. C. My TM carb has a plastic slide. No problems with that yet but just FYI. I'm pretty sure the TMX units come equipped the same way. D. The stock needle which comes with the carb isn't right for the Blaster engine. Mine doesn't like a 5fp17 needle at all and I will be swapping that needle for a leaner one very soon. IDK what needle is in the TMX carb, but if its the same you're probably gonna have to change it.

Wow, that's a lot of info in one post! I'm daring to be different by running a Mikuni carb and I wish you luck getting yours tuned when it comes in. They are no harder than a Keihin to tune once you know what you are doing. I'm just still figuring it all out since nobody else on here outside of Ken O' Connor seems to have much practice with setting TM/TMX carbs up on Blasters.

Sounds like a challenge but that's great, I love challenges it feels so good when you get it right. By what you say I already have a few of the bases covered, I run a twist throttle,( so no problems with a sore thumb), spacer block, and have a collection of jets and some needles which includes a a couple of lean critters.

I bought it off a guy who was running it on a 240 kitted Blaster so I am hoping it will already be in the ballpark. Many thanks for your input it's been a great help.

I have been jetting my tm34 for the past month. I did not have to have a spacer plate, but there is an issue with the intake bolt as mentioned. I am running the 5fp17 needle on the middle clip with no issue. I changed the needle jet to a q0 to get rid of some of the lower throttle richness. Only issue I have been struggling with, is it getting lean when coming off the throttle to a closed throttle. I am now at a 55 on the pilot, center clip on needle, and 250 main. I think this is where it is going to stay.
