im curious...you guys in USA use the imperial system as opposed to metric. Now dont all your local USA car manufacturers etc use the imperial system with all their nuts and bolts (inches etc) now the Japs with Yamaha and the rest of the world uses the metric system so do you guys all have like two sets of sockets and spanners or what? one for your bikes and another for your cars? im just wondering!

duh of coarse you should. shallow and deep well, 6 or 12 point, metric or standard. then you have your wrenched. you have the normal wrench, then the ones the bend, the ratching kind.
you can never have too many tools. trust me on this.

my dad has like 20 sets of sockets. around 10 sets of wrenches.
the more tools you have, the better. better to have choices than to be limited to what you can use.
okus when more than one person is working on the quad or car, it is nice to have two 12mm socket or wrenches.

yes i know all the variations 12 point 6 point etc. thing is the last car in SA that used the imperial system was the old Mini and the landrovers when they were still made in britain. so we dont have them here, dont think you can even buy them anymore. i like how you call it "standard" when you are like the only country in the world who still uses it! at least you guys are all good with fractions :)

lol that is what it is called here since that it the standard form of measurement lol

but i will say, i think metric system is so much better and easier to use. i dont know why we dont just use it.

thats what i was thinking i just look at all these 8/16ths and 21/32ths and 234/63862826ths bla bla and get so confused when someones posts a diy i just look at the pictures:)

we're slowly converting, in the auto industry anyway, but i try to use all metric on my blasters, except when one strips, then i can usually find an "SAE" as the are called,
to fit
most of our construction hardware is still "SAE"

Over here its Metric, Only time i have to use Imperial is on the briggs engines, but most times you get a way with metric match. We used to be imperial, some some drill bits are in the Imperial sizes, but that was before my time, still find the odd one around the shop.

In the end a Bacho adjustable wrench solves most problems
