well in the process of rounding up the parts i need for the a-arms im making. i got yfz 450 shocks now just got to paypal money over and need ball joints which i will order soon.. i hit a snag my brothers tig welder that i was gonna use to make the air boxs and a-arms is now sold. so chromoly is out since it needs to be tig welded. so i got a mig left is there any steel tubing out there that is light and strong? what were the blaster's stock one made out of im sure that would be plenty strong.. until i get the funds to buy myself a tig welder. any ideas are appericated.. thanks

people mig cromoly... you can use tool or carpenters steel, of regular mild steel, just up in thickness..... for exmple.. if you would use .095 cromoloy use .120 mild steel...

i just read this thing that said only use a tig or arc if i remeber right and heat treat it, well i guess im gonna buy alitle chromoly and see how it welds with the mig, ok thats great info, thanksI:I

if your sticking major heat in it you want to aneal it at leastit will probably be a little softer on the rockwell after anealing, but I would much rather bend an a-arm than snap one. mild steel is going to be a lot cheaper than cromoly.

I would say just go mild steel, and error on the side of thickness. Unless your going all out and trying to achieve greatest strength to weight ratio in like an all out race build(then chromoly would be good)...which i doubt you are...your not going to notice the benefit of 1-2 lbs less weight... especially since it is unsprung weight. I have done plenty of machining and fabricating and you would be amazed how good mild steel can be if the design is good and joints/welds are executed well. but go for it man...im sure either material will turn out good as long as the design is good and is done right...keep us posted

haha true i would much rather bend one then snap one have a nice header into the dirt would suck. ill give steel a shot take it to the track and see how strong they are.. i can see this is gonna be a 6month project. but it will be worth it get a really cheap set for myself and if i can get them built fast enough provide the blaster comunity with a really cheap set!!!
