Messed up Big, need major help

I wisj I could have snapped a picture, I live at about 2000 ft. elevation, and it has been extremely moist here the last few days. I had always used a carb cleaner, and then some mineral spirits and this is the first time I had tried washing it with a little dawn in the sink, as I had read and watched vids etc. I have cleaned cylinders and never had this happen but it could have been a number of factors, weather, humidity, etc.

Like stated, It literally was flash rusting as I was drying it, I have never seen anything like it, hence why I almost lost my mind.

Regardless i was able to wipe it clean with lint free towel and oil wiping with the crosshatch as I was slightly leary to scour cylinder with scotchbrite etc. not that it wouldn't work.

I guess on one hand, it is good to know that given the right conditions this can happen, and it is not that big of a deal. On the other hand, watching a cylinder rust in front of your eyes is not a fun sight to see.

I thought i'd pretty much heard, read, or seen it all, but I guess it's never to late to learn something new. Thank you for the quick responses, I jumped the gun a bit but at the same time, having the instant responses helped greatly, and allowed me to take care of the problem quickly, and I appreciate it.

just another way blasterforum can save your skin lol, just antother thing to learn, and another thing to put on the list of dos and donts

I ordered an lt250r cylinder and it came full of dirt and gunk. I used rubbing alcohol to clean it, didnt coat it with oil for a few weeks before i put the motor together, only got the tiniest bit of rust start forming. My cents
