anyone ever use the maxima pro air filter? just ordered a new one

That filter looks like a quality UNI knock-off. It should work just fine as long as you oil it thoroughly before installation. UNI must not have a patent on the foam filter design itself, so lots of manufacturers have come out with their own versions of the same basic product.
