Made some progress today...

Thanks to Ken, I was able to put the rest of the quad back together for the holiday weekend :). Started the break in process this afternoon. Let her idle for 15 minutes, cool for 30 (you know the drill). anyway when it was time to shift into gear... it didn't happen lol. I got the pushrod adjustment wrong on the clutch plate so the clutches were fully engaged and stalled the motor. Pop'd the cover back off to discover this, but... I am having trouble finding in the manual how to adjust the pushrod. I got it adjusted where I think it will work but damn is that clutch lever tight. Any advise would be appreciated. Also have any of you had luck installing the side cover with RTV instead of a gasket. Obviously I used up my gasket installing it this afternoon which is why I am wondering.

Well if the gasket comes off with out being torn or ripped you can reuse (new gaskets come off easier, if it leaks then you can get another but most likely won't if comes off cleanly). as for the clutch, there is a rod with the philips head and lock nut in center of the pressure plate that holds the springs. clutch lever on the left side of motor should point at a mark on the case under were the carb sits. that would be the base setting, other wise I'd say your clutch cable needs lube or replacing if it's stiff to pull on. Hope this helps with what you need.

The gasket was trash but I found a useable one down stairs. Bolted up and it was good to go. As far as the clutch, thanks for mentioning the "mark" on the case. As soon as I looked at the case I saw it. Adjusted it accordingly, and the clutch is perfect I:I. Spent all day pretty much breaking her in.... was perfect timing too. I finished up the break in, came inside to let her cool down, and 15 minutes later sure enough my neighbor got out the honda odyssey who has been talking sh*t about how he can beat my blaster ever since my motor blew. It has taken a better part of 3 months or more to get it back together. Anyway we meet up and the moral of the story is... the race wasn't even close. I don't even want to use the word "race" it was that bad. That ought to shut him up. :p

BTW, here is the finished product

Oh, and an extra special thanks to Ken O'Connor for cutting my head for the stroker crank, and having it to me for the holiday weekend with such short notice. Ken is the man! Thank you very very much! To those who have not had any work done by ken, he is a great guy and I highly recommend him!
