Looking at this boat tonight. Might be trading my boat for it.

It's got a 468 (454 .60 over) in it with 550hp. Should top out at around 70. I just don't use my boat like it should be used. My boat has 2 beds, a full bathroom with shower, fridge, microwave, and a stove. I've only stayed the night out on it once!

^^^^^You are just saying that to convince the wife you need a faster boat!!!! lol haha Sweet looking boat. Hopefully the trade goes well for you.

thats a badass boat mike...i mean captian stabbin :)

I'm not sure. To add to the cost you have to run a race fuel mix. The motor has dome top pistons and it put the compression a little to high for 93 octane gas. It still shouldn't be that bad cruising at 3200 rpms. Probably 100 bucks a weekend depending how much it gets ran.

looking at the piks, first its a stepped hull, that will help with speed BUT you have to drive it different or bad things can happen. You need to trim and throttle up to carry the bow in a turn or it can spin. Not a bad thing you just have to learn to drive it different. Then engine, does he have a build sheet?? whats in it? what crank? what heads? valve train, flat tappet or roller? Cam specs? 550 hp out of a marine 454 isn't unheard of or that difficult if good parts are used, however 550 looking at the rigging and condition seems a little questionable. If he made 550 without the right components the engine is going to be an expensive timebomb. When you go and look at it take a deadblow hammer of something and tap everywhere on the transom and stringers. it should sound sharp and solid any dull thuds indicates water intrusion and rot which will be either expensive or a lot of itchy scratchy pain in the butt fiberglass work. The exhaust looks like stainless marine which is good stuff. make sure the starter, alternator and distributor and carb are all marine units.

I just read the race gas part...run from that thing. Whoever built that motor doesn't know a thing about marine motors. Its probably got a big cam in it that will make it prone to reversion. I seriously doubt its got incolnel valves.

Hey rob. I will see if he has a build sheet. He said it is a full roller mother with dome top pistons and a big cam. It was built by a local machine shop. He said it will detonate if the race fuel is not mixed. I am well versed in buying boats, just not the high performance engine part. I read about the stepped hull yesterday and like you said it's good and bad. Good for 3 and 4ft chop, and bad for sharp turns. If the motor is putting out the power he said it is and the boat will do 70 it might need some external steering. I will let you know what I find out. I really like the boat and I'm not opposed to doing motor work. So you think the cam is causing reversion?

that out drive has seen better days, ask the last time it's been rebuilt I know on my bravo 2 I changed the gimbal bearing every yr, it it's legit and it is what he says it is and took pride in it he would have saved all receipts for parts a d maintenance, boats are tricky when buying used because u don't know the previous owner and he could have tagged it out. if it had 550 that boat will do 75 80 flat water.

seems like u know what ur doing and if u feel its a good deal it looks like a decent boat. good luck let me know if u buy it lets go for a ride!
