Looking at this boat tonight. Might be trading my boat for it.

Talked to the dude and he said he needs cash now. I'm just going to keep my boat. I have an 89 6 meter (19') century with a 350 in it. It has thru hull exhaust and should do low to mid 60's. I bought the boat last year cause the floor was soft. I have already put the floor in it. I will be rebuilding the backseat and really start finishing it up over the winter.

Provided you don't have bottom paint, giving a weight 3000 (2300 dry plus fuel beer etc) and a 260 hp merc 350. good prop you should see mid to upper 60's. Build a realiatively tame 400 hp .383 and you should see low 80's. Get yourself an ls motor out of a wrecked escalade, the right cam and valvetrain, and a wieand 177 youd be high 90's throw in an intercooler and you could be kissing 100

I will be doing a compression test on the motor soon. Hopefully it fails. It has an alpha drive which is rated up to 300hp. They used to use alpha drives with 454's though. I'm thinking I would like to stay between 300 and 350hp. No bottom paint and it has a ss mirage 3 blade prop. Not sure of pitch though.

its bigblock torque that chews up alphas. Don't worry about tearing it up with an SBC. Even if you do, Just get an SEI aftermarket replacement. Around 1200 and it comes with a 3 year NOFAULT warranty. If you hit a rock and break it in half its covered.

If you redo the 350, 350 hp is easy. I would talk to Bob Madera. Tell him your compression and heads, he will tell you the cam, valvetrain and carb/intake to run to get your goals DEPENDABLY.With the alpha I would try and keep the RPM's below sat 5200 though. The cam selection is key to making power and not getting reversion while the valve train is key to letting it spin.
