looking at a blaster

there is a blaster im looking at its a 98 240 big bore fmf exhaust andhas stock carb and 30mm carb he says the carb needs cleaned but i would take the stock carb of and put the 30mm carb on but the bike has no title he just uses it around home he dont race it or anything so my question is what is this bike worth with no title and not running he claims the carbs need cleaned
has new tires grab bar and plastic is in tacted

Ask him to run the vin number before you purchase it if he starts getting weird then get suspicious . Some states don't issue titles for ohv's just a bill of sale is all that's needed .
How much is he asking . If it doesn't run and it's a 240 and he says just the carb needs cleaned then odds are he ran the motor lean and fried it with too small of a carb and the wrong size jets . Stock carb for a 240 is dumb and you'd need a huge main jet and big pilot jet so the 30 is better but the 1st 2 things you will want to do if you do buy it is a compression test and a leak down test . Use the search function on the site to look for how to's on doing those critical tests .

i would say it is worth the 400. as long as it is a complete machine.

I would take a compression tester with ya. harbor freight 20 bux. then you got a bargaining chip if it is below 120psi with that bbk

idk if its like this out there but alot of illegals (and idiot kids) here will sell a blaster they found in a scrap yard and get it running and say its got 240 kit when its in reality bone stock except for the exhaust. just make sure the seller isnt blowing smoke in mirrors. its happend to a few guys on here
