Hi, I recently bought a 1988 Yamaha Blaster that ran away on me, luckily I was able to stop it before it blew up.

I took it apart, performed a leak down test, and identified the clutch side crank seal as the cause of the air leak. I removed the seal and installed a new one from Vito's Performance and also installed a new crankshaft spacer collar, but it still leaks from the same spot.

What would you recommend trying next? The seal seemed to be identical both directions (spring and lip on both sides, identical measurements on caliper) but is it possible it's directional? Should I RTV around the pressing surface? Is it possible I received a defective seal?

Any advise would help, THANKS!
