After all the leak down tester talk recently, I decided to construct one. Here is a parts list and price paid from Lowes

3/8 in tubing .32 cents a foot(I bought 3 feet, but only needed one)
1" x 1/2" plastic plug .62 cents
3/8" x 1/2" reducer $1.72
3/8" T-pipe $1.92
2 hose clamps (had them)
Gauge (cannibalized from a old air gauge that broke)
Schrader valve (cut from a old bike tube)

All in all I'm in it for $4.58

I tested it for leaks by placing a rubber glove over the plug and sealing it with a clamp. I pressurized it to 10 pounds and let it sit for an hour. Didn't lose any pressure so I think it's tight.
