I recently rebuilt my top end and after two days of riding the piston seized. I'm running an open air-box, pro circuit exhaust and a 300 main jet with fuel mixed 32:1. Plug looked okay a little on the rich side. I'm thinking I have an air leak somewhere. I found this leak down tester reasonably priced.

Cylinder Leak-Down Tester

I've never done a leak down test what psi do you use? Anyone have any advice on performing the test? What's the best way to troubleshoot air-leaks? Should there be some sort of exhaust gasket on the pipe at the exhaust port? It was simply held on with the springs no gasket.

Thanks.

there is a big ring that is used for the exhaust gasket its probally there u just didnt notice it. as for the leakdown tester i dont really like the looks of that one, its ok but i like the ones HOLESHOTMAN makes and his are only $30. you should hit him up with a pm and he will hook you right up.

wrong tester. thats for a 4 stroke. go to motionpro.com if you want a nice one. or K&L supply and order it through a dealer. a good one is pricey.

Yep, that tester will test the sealing of rings, valves, etc of a 4-stroke, automotive engines and the like. A very handy tool, but it uses a constant flow of air and calculates a percentage loss rate at a fairly high pressure.

A 2-cycle leakdown tester tests the integrity of seals and gaskets at a low pressure of 6-9psi. The motionpro is bitchin' but pricey.
