Lapping cases at home

I wouldn't trust the light through the cases trick. If you did it slowley and carefully, and used even pressure that would be fine.
The marker would show you where the problem areas were.
Mark the mating surface, let dry, then put it on the sandpaper, do a very light movement with even pressure, and inspect the surface. Any low spots will show up as the color marker used.

A nice light even coat of Yamabond and your troubles are over.
I agree a person could spend all day doing this . Its not really possible or even needed to get it perfectly flat since the Yamabond is used . If you really want to nit-pick over it, have it milled.

All is good. I'm not going to crazy with it. Just waiting on bearings to get in. Oh and I'm sending my cylinder, flywheel, and crank to KOR. When it returns I'll be ready.
