I have a 1998 blaster kinda a basket case. Anyways replaced the clutch and now I cannot make the kick start work. Now before someone shares the video of the aussie dude showing how to wind the spring, let me just say I've watched it 100000000000000000 times. I also have seen the pictures with the pretty colored holes. Both helped none. I need to know why it is the spring doesn't stay in the hole. The back spring sure, but the top front one hangs on by a thread any kick movement and it's back off. And yes that's with the case on and three old changes. So what do you folks think is its problem?

Worked fine until I tried to put it back together. Now the spring barely hang on to the whole. As soon as I put the case on and kick once it pops off and I'm back to square one. I looked at the video and I've seen all of those too. However I did notice in a quick look through the guy said at one point if your spring don't look like his replace it. His looks like it barely is in the whole just like mine. Maybe I'll try a new springwhat about these videos

You don't wind them springs up much. It should rest in the hole with slight pressure against it and give you plenty of time to install clutch cover. Is the plastic white bushing still on the kicker gear behind the spring? Also just to be sure you do have the tang of the kicker in the case notch? If you get stuck I have some kicker gears here I could sell you.
I'll try to take some pictures. Or video to show you guys the issue. I I'm in the holes. I've seen the pictures with the colors to guide you. I have two manuals I've watched all the videoes. Just to repeat that. However with all that being said I will describe it again in a simple way. So there is two places that a spring or guide needs to be installed. As the books videos and numerous Internet sources say I start with the one that plugs into the case. Once it's lined up I aline it on and make sure the stopper it touching the forward kick position. The when I know it right to the case and the gear is snug and not touching anything I take the other spring and move it to the hole it belongs in. Then it pops out. So the I swear and start again. If I can manage to keep it there while I get the case on in one kick the spring I wouND that I'd hanging by a 16th of a inch likely even less pops out leaving the kick start trapped in the down position. Now as an added bonus some time when the happens it sets the first spring or whatever you call it behind the forward stop tab. I do have the bushing there intact all my gearstuff and shaft are true and not chipped or damaged . It just will not allow the spring to stay in its holes. I'm thinking a new spring is the solution
