Keihin 35mm hookup help

I bought several cables but the one i bought from project blaster worked the best for keihin carbs with thumb throttle, it was worth the price there to get a great fitting cable.

The pwk series carburetors all have the same hookup inside the carburetor. A "D" shaped slide with a small plastic "cap" that sits under the spring and captures the little ball made onto the end of the throttle cable.

If you are putting a PWK or a PWK knockoff, you need the motion pro cable for the blaster with TORS delete. It has a small barrel made onto the end of the cable which works well with any of those carbs.

Thanks guys! Ordered the cable earlier today, can't wait to get it in so I can get the motor in!

Only thing left is reeds and cage gasket, boot trimmed to fit my 35 PWK, stator cover and bolts, tune, and chain! Can't wait to get this thing running!

I used the above ebay link when I bought the cable, went to hook it up the the PWK today and the slide doesnt fully close anymore, it only moves through the top half of the carb, am I gonna need a different cap too? Or can I just shorten the current "stem" I have? If you would like to see the carb it is in the FS section, I bought it from 99LRD, thanks.

Hey man you have to adjust the cable on top of the carb and in the throttle box. Yes shorten the stem by screwing it in, on both. I have mine on my 35pwk and have no problems.

I just looked at the top of the carb you have and mine is different, I dont have that 45 bend in mine just a straight threaded piece, Hmmmmm. Maybe that is a diffent cap? IDK

I got it from a KDX200 dirtbike when I got it, that's why it has the 45 degree bend, but it SHOULD still work regardless whether it's the straight or bent line feed.

there isn't any adjusment, the thumb end isn't even hooked up. its gotta be the 45 on the stem. can I just shorten the stem or should I remove and tap it and get some brass fittings to come straight out the top?

Hmmm I'm not sure. I'm not sure how it fits up on there and don't really know what's going on. If you cut the bent portion and made it straight, how would that fix it? It makes me wonder how it worked on the dirtbike though. I'm guessing the brass portion just pops off and you might need to get a straight one. If that's what you need or whatever let me know and I can paypal you back whatever the cost of the part is. I never paid much attention to it and thought the bent sleeve would fit up just the same as the straight one because I've seen some bent ones on other swaps. :-/

99LRD, I think you are one of the most stand up guys I have ever met, dont worry about the money, I know you didnt mean for it not to work. Ive got a XR200 with some parts on it and it looks like it has a similar cable. I'll pull it off here in a minute and take a look at it, I think its got the cap and everything. I think I will be ok if I pop the stem out of the cap and tap it (if need be). Not only that but if its threaded I can adjust it, some teflon tape and its water tight! Got my fingers crossed I can get it all worked out! Ill get some pics up on a few hours. Thanks for everyones help though.

Well on the plus side, you might end up getting some innovative new experience out of it..........or an hour of swearing. I:I Is it the cable that doesn't fit up on it or is something on the carb? The only difference I could tell was it was bent as opposed to straight. I know for sure the rest of the carb is in tip top shape though since I took it apart and it was all there. Quite frankly, I just didn't look at the cap and brass portion much because it seemed fine when I cleaned it. At any rate, I hope it's up and running ASAP for you. I hope it's a screamer with it on there. B)

Ok, this is what I came up with, either you will this its innovating or ghetto!
Cap is tapped to 5/16ths, a hole through the bolt, counter sunk the head for the cable, and a jam nut! All RTV'd up with an extra boot over it. Ha, let me know what you think!

LOL Well does it work? I think that's all that matters. Looks like it would hold up well from what I can see.

It works GOOD! And I can adjust it still from both ends. Its a little cramped when the tank is on but it fits pretty good. Seems like she is gonna work out and it was free! I'm all about some free'ness!

1st class Presidential Solution right there I:I home made cable adjuster. Keep an eye on it and keep an eye out for some kind of rubber boot for it just in case you end up with a problem.

Just so everyone knows, :D Pesidential Solution is politically correct for ...... rigging I:I

Thanks man, I got to thinkin if I rounded off the top of the bolt you would never know the difference between the bolt and an adjuster. May look a little more 'classier!'
