Just got it in yesterday with the brand new Motion Pro cable and installed it this morning and discovered that the intake side does not match up to my stock 2000 air box boot. No big deal, so I then removed my rear fenders and took the stock airbox boot completely off.

Now my main question is "which uni-filter do I buy that will be compatible with the intake side of this carb, and will fit in that space clearing the shock?"

I cannot seem to locate the intake "mm" of the carb anywhere on the web.

Please help, I just want to keep it tip top with out messing up my equipment.

if you get a clamp on you have to stay away from water. even puddles. i have heard of people stretcing the boot using a heat gun and progressively bigger sockets to stretch it out.

I believe you order uni filters by the inch size not mm so just measure it straight across and hit ebay. And he's right water will not be your friend

Thanks for the info. Looks like I'll be returning the stock intake boot with a heat treatment added to make it work. I'm sure after softening the rubber and getting it on will cause it to take more of a permanent shape that will last a while for periodic cleaning.

It is also common to cut the airbox tube shorter, add a piece of tubing and a coupler to mate up to the carb. The carb should fit the intake/reed boot fine. I had to tilt mine slightly from vertical to clear the clutch arm, but a reed spacer would help there.

I did what Tony is talking about.

I cut mine shorter, used a turbo coupler from my 91 MR2 Turbo, used some toyota FIPG (think yamabond) to secure it, then used some window weld to mate the 2 on the outside.

It fits my PWK 28 perfect.

New problem:
Have everything hooked up and removed the plug to see if there would be spark after disconnecting the TORS wiring and I have spark. Now I cannot get the Blasty to fire up. Screwed the idle screw all the way in and took it back a 1 & half turns and still no combustion. This is a new carb and I do not have an air filter, I have a dense fabric material hose clamped to the back for testing to provide some negative pressure. Is there something else I need to do in order to get a new Keihin 28mm carb to work?

1) New Keihin 28mm Carb
2) New Motion Pro Throttle Cable
3) TORS switch removed from thumb throttle assembly
4) TORS completely disconnected from Blasty
5) Have fuel
6) Have spark
7) Kicked it over a bunch and it backfired once, son said it blew some index cards off a desk behind me
8) Blasty ran before with stock carb w/stripped carb cap
9) HELP!!! I love this machine/neighbors hate it

TORS Removal:
1) Removed throttle assembly cover and unscrewed the tiny switch in there and have it hanging off to the side. (did not snip any wires)
2) Disconnected the harness that was connected to the TORS at the carb
3) Removed stock carb and throttle cable
4) Replaced the unit with the 28mm Keihin and Motion Pro throttle cable
5) Turned idle screw all the way in and backed it out 1 & half turns
6) Reconnected fuel line with new Moose Racing fuel hosing(new clear fuel filter)
7) Checked fuel level
8) Removed new spark plug gapped at .035
9) Placed sparky on head of engine and kicked it over with strong spark present
10) Replaced sparky and snugged it down, did not cross thread or over tighten
11) Kick it with great compression
12) Kick it a bunch/small backfire
13) Got tired/went inside and cleaned the house a little
14) Going to try again right now
15) Want it "start" to aggravate the neighbors a bunch(their barking dogs at 4:30AM do the same)

have some pull start you, might be flooded
check all electric connections, might have one loose or dirty
make sure you removed the TORS correctly.
are you sure you are getting fuel? check your reeds and clean the carb

My 11 yr. old has a Chinese Quad that pulled me when I first got the machine and it worked. I'll have to wait till he gets out of school today. I work 9 shifts straight after today and I want this beast running because I dig it so much. 2 stroke "Quads" are a dying breed and I want this one to live. When I got it running the first time I was gassed at how awesome the combo was. Screw 4 strokes knowing that this is how it should be.

I just kicked it over about 30x's and I smell fuel at the FMF pipe, it has to be something simple like putting paddles to the chest in the ER to jolt life into her(I always refer to the machine as "her")

I got a great deal on the Blasty and I'm not about to give up on her or part her out, she's a keeper.

you flooded it, pull start it and dont give it gas at first. let it clear the carb and engine out of gas. where do you live?

Try unplugging the throttle switch, don't jumper it.

Remove spark plug and dry it off. Replace and try again.

If that works, do yourself a favor and unplug the blk/wht wire from the TORS control box under the hood. (upper left box, above cdi)

Ah!!! I'll give that a try.

You flooded it by having that rag over the intake side of the carb. It's only designed to have about an inch of vacuum on it and you probably have about 5" with a dish rag over the intake. It's pulling gasoline up past the needle with that much vacuum on it. Remove the rag, remove the spark plug, kick it over 10 times. Replace the spark plug and then kick it over. It should fire right up.

OK, she runs if she's towed. Sounds good and ready to "Blast"

But the moment we disconnect she revs high and dies. Idle screw out a turn and a half.

What can I do to resurrect her?

Please help!!!
